Major Russian Assaults Disrupt Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have come under increased strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to water systems, per reports from local authorities.

At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has intensified strikes on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while officials has demanded "real steps" from partner nations to increase pressure on Russia.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and enforcing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty projectiles struck the country's power systems, characterizing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.

A wave of strikes struck power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, per statements from local officials.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were hurt.

The attacks follow evenings of air raids in the territory, sections of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already disrupting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were preparing for more assaults.
